About First Moves

First Moves is a free, hands-on course for people who just got an Ableton Move and are new to making music.

This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by Ableton AG. Ableton, Move, Live, Push and Note are trademarks of Ableton AG. The lessons are written from scratch and the drawings are our own; nothing here is copied from Ableton’s manual or tutorials.

What it’s based on

• The official Move manual (written for Move software 1.x).
• Ableton’s Move release notes, for features added in Move software 2.0 and 2.1.
• Ableton’s Move help articles.
• Ableton’s Learn Move videos, which lessons link to where they fit.

The course is written for Move software 2.1. When a lesson relies on something newer than the manual, it says so. If a step doesn’t match what your Move does, trust your Move, and check the official manual.

Your progress

Progress is stored only in this browser (local storage). There are no accounts, no tracking, and nothing is sent anywhere. You can reset it from the course map.
